FinLit Technologies, Inc. (“FinLit,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the FinLit mobile application and this website (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address, which are managed through our authentication provider (Supabase).

Subscription and purchase information. When you buy a subscription, the transaction is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and managed on our side through RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of your purchase and subscription status. We do not receive or store your full payment card details — those are handled by Apple, Google, and their payment processors.

Usage and device information. We may collect information about how you use the app and the device you use it on — such as app interactions, features used, quiz progress, device type, operating system version, and general diagnostic data — to operate and improve the Service. Communications. If you contact us for support, we keep the information you provide so we can respond and improve our support.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service, and only as needed:

• Supabase — backend hosting, database and user authentication

• RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management

• Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing and subscription billing

• Legal and safety — where required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public

4. International data transfers

Our service providers may store and process your information on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in accordance with applicable law.

5. Data retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we must retain it for legitimate purposes such as security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.

6. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email [privacy email].

Deleting your account and data. You can delete your account and its associated data at any time directly in the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. You may also request deletion by emailing [privacy email], and we will process your request in accordance with applicable law.

Canadian users have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Users in the European Economic Area / United Kingdom have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR. If you have an unresolved concern, you may contact your local data protection authority (in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner).

7. Children’s privacy

FinLit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at info@finlit.tech and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Cookies (website)

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Effective date” above. Material changes may be communicated in-app or by email.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the FinLit mobile application and website (the “Service”), operated by FinLit Technologies, Inc. (“FinLit,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

FinLit is an educational application providing financial literacy content (the Financial Footings curriculum) and historical educational content (the African History track), including lessons and quizzes.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for maintaining the security of your account and credentials. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

3. Subscriptions and payments

FinLit offers free content and optional paid subscriptions. Paid subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, subject to their terms. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Payment, refunds, and cancellations are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies.

4. Educational content — not professional advice

The Service is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. FinLit’s content, including all financial literacy material, examples, and historical content, does not constitute financial, investment, tax, accounting, legal, or other professional advice, and must not be relied upon as such. FinLit is not a financial advisor, investment adviser, broker, tax advisor, or fiduciary, and no advisory or fiduciary relationship is created by your use of the Service. Any financial figures, thresholds, or examples are illustrative and may change over time. Before making any financial, investment, or legal decision, consult a qualified professional who can consider your specific circumstances. You are solely responsible for decisions you make and actions you take.

5. Intellectual property

The Service and all of its content — including text, curriculum, lessons, quizzes, historical material, graphics, logos, and software — are owned by FinLit Technologies, Inc. or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, resell, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written permission.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: misuse the Service; attempt to gain unauthorized access to it; interfere with its operation or security; reverse-engineer it except as permitted by law; or use it for any unlawful purpose.

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on and links to third-party services (including Apple, Google, Supabase and RevenueCat). We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their terms.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content is complete or current.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FinLit Technologies, Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FinLit Technologies, Inc. from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses arising from your misuse of the Service or breach of these Terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you breach these Terms or for any lawful reason. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada. 

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Effective date.” Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
