1. Information we collect
We collect only what the app needs to work. Each category below is described
with the purpose it serves.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email
address. This is managed through our authentication provider, Supabase. We use
it to create your account, sign you in, and contact you about your account.
Learning progress. We store your progress through the Financial Footings and African History tracks — lessons completed, quiz attempts, and quiz scores — so that your progress is saved between sessions and restored if you reinstall the app.
Subscription and purchase information.
When you buy a subscription, the
transaction is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed on our side through RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of your purchase and your
subscription status. We do not receive or store your payment card details; those are handled by Apple, Google, and their payment processors.
Technical information processed by our providers. Our service providers process limited technical information necessary to deliver the Service, such as IP address and basic device identifiers used to authenticate your session and validate your subscription. We do not use analytics SDKs, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not build advertising or marketing profiles.
Communications. If you contact us for support, we keep the information you
provide so that we can respond and improve our support.
2. Information we do not collect
To be explicit about our limits, FinLit does not collect, request, or require:
- Date of birth or age
- Gender or marital status
- Phone number or mailing address
- Precise or background location
- Contacts, calendar, photos, camera, or microphone access
- Government identifiers of any kind
- Full payment card or bank account details
- Health, biometric, or financial account data
FinLit does not send push notifications and does not collect device notification
tokens.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its content
- To create and manage your account
- To save and restore your learning progress
- To process and manage your subscription
- To respond to your questions and provide customer support
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms
4. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service
providers who help us operate the Service, and only as needed:
- Supabase — backend hosting, database, and user authentication
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management
- Apple App Store/Google Play — payment processing and subscription billing
- Legal and safety — where required by law or to protect our rights, our users or the public
5. International data transfers
Our service providers may store and process your information on servers located
outside your country, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal
information across borders, we rely on the contractual protections in our agreements with those providers, including standard contractual clauses where required, so that your information remains protected in accordance with applicable law.
6. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as
needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or
de-identify your personal information — including your learning progress and
quiz history — except where we must retain it for legitimate purposes such as security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution or legal compliance.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, update or delete your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to object to or
restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email info@finlit.tech. We will respond within 7 days.
Deleting your account and data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the app. After signing in, the Delete Account option is available at the bottom of the Home screen. Deletion removes your account record, learning progress, and quiz history from our systems, and the account cannot be used to sign in again. You may also request deletion by
emailing info@finlit.tech and we will process your request in accordance with
applicable law.
Account emails. Account and transactional emails are necessary to operate the Service and cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
Regional rights. Canadian users have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and Quebec residents have additional rights under Law 25. Users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you have an unresolved concern, you may contact your local data protection authority — in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
8. Children's privacy
FinLit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at info@finlit.tech and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to
protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely
secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Cookies (website)
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and
analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated
version here and revise the "Effective date" above. Material changes may be
communicated in-app or by email.
